Admission Requirements

Applicants for the DNP-FNP program should hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a regionally accredited and CCNE or ACEN-accredited program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
One year or more of professional nursing experience 
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact
 

Prerequisite Coursework

  • Undergraduate statistics course covering both descriptive and inferential statistics (grade C or higher)
  • Undergraduate research course (grade C or higher)

Additional Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, applicants must submit:

  • Completed online application
  • Resume 
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended
  • Personal statement outlining professional goals and alignment with the DNP program
  • Two recommendation letters (one academic; one professional/supervisor reference)
  • Interview with the Admissions Selection Committee

Prospective students should apply for admission to Appalachian State University's Cratis D. Williams School of Graduate Studies.

The program welcomes a new, limited-size cohort of students each August. Applications open in the fall of the preceding year.
Prospective students are encouraged to submit applications by the priority admission deadline of February 1; the final deadline for applications is July 1, on a space-available basis.
