Sarah Martin MSN, RNC-OB joined our faculty in August 2018. Sarah has her Associate's and Bachelor's degrees from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, and is a recent graduate from the inaugural Master of Science in Nursing cohort here at Appalachian State University. She also has graduate certificates in integrative health from the University of Arizona and in nursing education from UNC-Charlotte. Sarah has clinical experience in women and children's health working at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby and Novant Health in Charlotte. She also worked with the Pediatric Cardiology team at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte. Additionally, she has experience in corporate nursing education and the nurse residency program with Atrium Health, formally known as Carolinas HealthCare System. Her research interests include healthcare provider resilience, education, and integrative health. Sarah is married to Chad and has two boys that attend Parkway School in Boone.
Three Fun Facts About Sarah:
1) She played soccer from the time she was four-years-old and into college at Gardner-Webb University.
2) Before graduating from her BSN program, she signed up for a medical missions trip to Russia. After 9/11, the group could not get visas into Russia and had to go to Paris instead.
3) She spent the summer after she graduated with her BSN in Maine serving as a camp nurse.
