Melissa Edmondson started as the Administrative Assistant with the Nursing Department in May 2024. Before that, her background was in the legal field. She was a paralegal for real estate attorneys for years until she felt the call to change careers. In the four years prior to obtaining this position, her oldest son underwent numerous extensive medical procedures with lengthy hospital stays so the nursing profession holds a special place in her heart. She is proud and honored to work in a position that helps to lead students into the medical field.
Melissa has four grown children and is married to her husband, Richard. They welcomed their one and only granddaughter Evelyn to the world in April 2023, and they love the new role of doting grandparents. Melissa lives in Ashe County, surrounded by the beautiful mountains in Creston, NC. When not working, Melissa enjoys reading, writing, and performing. She enjoys acting with local community theatre groups and writes for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. She has thirteen publications with them so far.
