Makayla Pennington Brock, MSN, RN, PCCN

Makayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Appalachian State University in 2019 and started her nursing career on a cardiothoracic and vascular surgical unit. After gaining experience on this unit, she then transferred to a critical care unit, where she found a passion for critical care nursing and education. Makayla worked full time in the critical care unit while pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in nursing education through UNC Wilmington, which she completed in 2021. Following completion of this degree, she worked as an adjunct nursing instructor in the community college setting for two years followed by one year as an adjunct clinical faculty member at Appalachian State. Makayla accepted a full-time clinical faculty position at Appalachian State in 2024 and hopes to further her education in the near future.

Makayla lives in Wilkes County with her husband and two small children and cherishes every moment spent with her family.
