Anna Hamrick, DNP, FNP-C

Dr. Hamrick serves as Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program in the Department of Nursing at Appalachian State University. Her professional interests center on advanced practice nursing education, rural health, and telehealth innovation. She is passionate about preparing the next generation of nurse practitioners to deliver high-quality, compassionate and accessible care.

She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from Western Carolina University, and both Bachelor and Associate of Science in Nursing degrees from Gardner-Webb University.

Dr. Hamrick brings a broad range of clinical and academic experience to AppState including curriculum development, program evaluation, and academic leadership. She maintains active NP practice in school-based health centers and has prior experience in palliative care and ENT surgery.

A native of the mountains of Western North Carolina, Dr. Hamrick and her family live on a small farm in the foothills of NC. She is married to a proud AppState alum. Together, their family enjoys spending time near water, attending sporting events and volunteering in their church and community.
